Description:
The Gregorian chant is part of my childhood memories. In Corpataux (Switzerland), the village of my grandmother, the parish choir sang in latin. From that period forward, I have retained the memory of the sacred and mysterious character of latin, together with a visceral reaction to the unison chant and text inflection. These elements are strongly imbedded in the fabric of the Credo, which uses specific meters as numeric metaphors (7 beat measures referring to God, 4 to Jesus, with 3, and then 4, representing the incarnation of the spirit). The first performance was given at the Advent Concerts of Villars-sur-Glâne (Switzerland) in 1999, with Hubert Reidy conducting the 'Divertimento vocale' choir of Fribourg.
