The large-scale motet Die Nacht ist vorgerücken for mixed, 4- to 8-part choir a capella, composed by Johanna Senfter, appears here for the first time in print. Although the motet is outwardly in the tradition of Johannes Brahms' choral motets, it is written in a very expressive style, the closest points of reference to which are the corresponding late Romantic works by Max Reger or Arnold Schoenberg.
