The cycle Femmes de Jérusalem [Women of Jerusalem] was commissioned by the vocal ensemble DeMusica (Fribourg, Switzerland) and its conductor Marc Bochud for the 20th anniversary of the founding of the The cycle Femmes de Jérusalem [Women of Jerusalem] was commissioned by the vocal ensemble DeMusica (Fribourg, Switzerland) and its conductor Marc Bochud for the 20th anniversary of the founding of the choir and premiered on September 15, 2006. Marie-Claire Dewarrat also wrote the texts for this occasion. The author chose these women as 'the greatest symbol bearers, the most suitable to evoke contemporary resonance. The cycle consists of 5 choruses: 1. Sarah, 'the Whisperer' 2. Mary, 'the Silent One' 3. Mary of Magdala, 'the Caller' 4. Veronica, 'the Witness' Marie-Claire Dewarrat's text evoked in me the image of Christ carrying his cross and Veronica's song resounded in me like a lullaby. 5 Martha, 'the supplicant'. The work was premiered on September 15, 2006 in the temple in Fribourg, Switzerland.
