This sensitive African-American spiritual addresses the earthly ministry of Christ, leading up to the crucifixion. Arranger Larry Shackley has added new lyrics that make this piece especially appropriate for Lent or Holy Week. The gentle, rocking accompaniment underscores simple yet effective vocal parts, including an optional baritone solo. The finishing touch is a clarinet obbligato, which adds a a touch of blues, and a creative counterpoint to the vocals. This piece is featured in Larry's Lenten/Easter cantata, 'Here Is Love' (# 8301). Product C 5517P includes a full Conductor's Score and the Clarinet in B-flat part.
