Description:
Bach's cantata, "Herr Gott, dich loben alle wir", composed on September 29, 1724, belongs to the group of choral cantatas which, like perhaps the respective preacher, interpret the ideas of the readings using the example of a hymn, in this case the twelve-verse hymn by Paul Eber (1554), whose inner stanzas 2-10 were rewritten as two recitatives and two arias each, while stanza 1 is heard as the opening movement and stanzas 11-12 as the final chorale in the original wording.
