The four-bar melody, which can be heard as a monophonic soloist at the beginning, forms the starting point and the musical center of this subtly nuanced choral composition by Frederic Mattes. It is alternately taken over by different voices and appears again in unison at the end – in keeping with the words "silently, invisibly" of the poem on which it is based by William Blake. A modern, sonorous choral piece that brings Blake's text about the vulnerability inherent in love to life in warm harmonies.
