Description:
With Luigi Bottazzo's 'Light Mass' op. 180, we present the first ordinarium by an Italian Romantic composer. The composer and organist, who worked in Padua, sympathized strongly with the Caecilian movement, but without implementing its retrospective and ascetic postulates in his compositions: Thus, in his works written predominantly for the liturgy, he knew how to combine a genteel, romantic style with mostly easy executability. Bottazzo wrote the present mass for two equal voices and organ. A male part in the middle register generated by the editor from the accompaniment and slight changes in the second part have created a three-part Ordinary which, thanks to its relaxed, homophonic setting and convincing sound, always remains attractive for the singers and is indeed quick and easy to rehearse. With Credo.
