Description:
The origins of the cantata Lobe den Herrn meine Seele BWV 143 are largely unknown. For a long time, a copy from the 19th century was considered the only source. This was also the basis for the musical text of the NBA. However, it is now possible to refer to a copy of the score from 1762, which offers a more reliable musical text and thus makes a complete revision of the cantata seem necessary.
On the basis of this new source situation, this edition presents the work as part of the New Bach Edition. Revised Edition, presents the work in its presumably original form in C major with three trumpets.
This instrumentation is closer to Bach than the one with three horns in the surviving B flat major version.
