Description:
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach composed his Latin Sanctus in E flat in the years 1768-1778, when he was music director at the churches in Hamburg. The short and solemn work for choir and orchestra was intended for the communion liturgy at Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. This first edition is based on a copy from the music archive of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, which was lost after the Second World War and was only recently rediscovered by Prof. Christoph Wolff in Kiev.
