Description:
The Stabat Mater is Giuseppe Verdi's last work. The composer completed it in 1897 at the age of 84. A year later, the Stabat Mater appeared in print together with the slightly older Te Deum as part of the collection Quattro pezzi sacri. Verdi set the meditation on Mary in the face of her crucified son, a classic of Middle Latin poetry, in an operatic, expressive manner for choir and large orchestra. Verdi's Stabat Mater is now available for the first time in a critical edition. Also available in the "Choir & Organ" series.
