Description:
Among the sacred compositions by Carl Heinrich Graun, the long-serving court conductor of Frederick II in Berlin, two works have acquired a prominent status: the passion cantata Der Tod Jesu from 1755 and the 11-movement Te Deum composed in 1757 for a military victory celebration. Both works remained in the repertoire of many singing academies and oratorio choirs well into the 19th century and are being rediscovered today. This publication presents the Te Deum, which for a long time was not available in one edition, in a new, text-critical piano reduction.
