Der 'Coconut Song' trägt den Untertitel 'Worksong', was übersetzt Arbeitslied heisst. Solche Lieder sind entstanden, um die Arbeit zu erleichtern und die Leistung bei gemeinsamer, gleichartiger Tätigkeit zu steigern. Der 'Coconut Song' erzählt von der Arbeit bei einer Kokosnuss-Ernte auf einer Karibik-Insel. Beim Aufschlagen der Kokosnüsse singen die Arbeiter ein heiteres und leichtes Lied auf den Rhythmus eines Calypso. Es lädt sofort zum Mitsingen ein und man kann sich einen Text wie folgt vorstellen: Two little boys they are cutting the cocos. Two little girls do the dance loco, loco. Here on that isle to the sound of the drum, children are happy and play in the sun.
