Description:
After the great success of the "Greek Folk Song Suite", which has lasted for over twenty years, Franco Cesarini once again exposes himself to the long and rich tradition of Greek folk music. His Greek Folk Song Suite No. 2 elaborates three dances that give the name to the three movements that make up the piece.
The first movement, Samiotissa, is a kalamatianos whose most striking feature is its irregular 7/8 rhythm. It is a festive dance whose roots go back to ancient times and is now considered a Greek national dance.
The second movement, Kato sto jalo, is a zeibekiko, a slow dance danced by only one man at a time, which obviously originated with the warriors of ancient Anatolia.
The third and last movement, Chasaposerviko, is the fast part of the Hasapiko dance and is characterized by its more extended form.
A new journey into Greek folk music that will delight musicians and audiences.
