Description:
The composition 'Irish Castle' sounds like the music to an old Irish saga. Although the music actually stands for itself, you can also imagine the following story to it:
In an old, venerable castle in Ireland, the lord of the castle stands with his two sons on the tower and looks out over his domain: lush green landscapes, rolling hills and small villages stretch to the horizon.
But the idyllic peace does not last long, a battle announces itself. Both sons go into battle to defend their land. They succeed, but like all wars, this one knows no true winners. One of the brothers leaves his life on the battlefield and the other returns alone to the father and the castle! And yet: the battle was won and the castle thus defended. The people rejoice and celebrate peace with exuberant dances.
Markus Götz has created with 'Irish Castle' a dramatic composition for wind orchestra, which in addition to typical Irish melodies and rhythms also bears the now unmistakable stylistic signature of the composer.
