Description:
After about nine weeks of instrumental lessons using the Schulwerk Junior Band or another teaching method, students are ready to begin playing in an ensemble. The workbooks are divided into 20 detailed rehearsal plans. The remaining time is used to reinforce and review the orchestral pieces, as a buffer, and to incorporate the students’ own ideas. Wind Instrument Class 1 is designed for one school year. The workbooks are available for all woodwind and brass instruments, as well as for percussion and mallets, and are supplemented by an accompaniment track. They are individually tailored to each instrument in terms of scope, difficulty level, and part writing. A full score for the music educator, featuring rehearsal tips and page references to the student workbooks, rounds out the concept. Newcomers to the orchestra first learn the order for unpacking and setting up their instruments and music stands, as well as the seating arrangement. Clearly structured rehearsal plans at the beginning of each chapter help students find their way and spark curiosity about what’s to come. In a short time, a sense of togetherness develops, and the joy of making music together with different rhythms and at different pitches is awakened."Merrily We Roll Along," "Jingle Bells," and "Camptown Races" are included, as are "Intermission Waltz," "Mexican Hat Dance," and "Symphony with the Drumbeat." Rhythm, percussion, and intonation exercises are also given ample attention.
