In the case of James L. Hosay, his relationship to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven is a very personal one. The American composer first came into contact with it during his school years and was deeply impressed by it. Hosay tried to find out what made Beethoven's music so special for him and what distinguished it from the works of his musical contemporaries. While at first, as a young student, he was unable to pinpoint this difference, as he grew older and gained more musical and compositional experience of his own, he discovered that it was characterized by a special, deep passion.
Tender, anger, tragedy, joy, and sadness are just some of the traits that make Ludwig van Beethoven's music so unique. James L.
