Description:
Ottoman Dances is a work by Jacob de Haan consisting of two dances in south-eastern European style. One of them comes from Bosnia Herzegovina and the other from Turkey. Both countries were part of the Ottoman Empire (1350-1918), hence the title. The first movement is quite calm and features dynamic contrasts as well as different articulations. The second movement is a fast dance in four-four time and exudes a lively atmosphere. Simple but very effective!
