Description:
The Two Terzets op. 97 were composed in 1894 at Kirchner's last residence in Hamburg. The work is dedicated to Mathilde Schlüter (1846-1930), who had been a pupil of Kirchner's since mid-1894 and looked after him after his stroke in December 1894. During his thirteen years in Hamburg, he composed only around ten works, including the present Two Terzets op. 97 as his last chamber music pieces (Jürg Löffler).
