Description:
The first publication of these sonatas by Camillo Schoenbaum in the "Hortus Musicus" series three decades ago was a pioneering act that paved the way for today's Zelenka renaissance. However, new findings and evaluations of the source material made a new edition necessary in order to present a practical edition that meets all scholarly requirements. The sonata cycle by Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679-1745), written in 1721/22, stands out from the 15-year development of the trio sonata genre as one of the most striking and at the same time most unusual creations. Extreme in their outer dimensions as well as in their technical demands, Zelenka's sonatas combine sophisticated formal solutions with captivating virtuosity.
