Rarely has writing for flute quartet been so beguilingly beautiful and ingratiating in a minor key. The pre-Romantic jewel needs no recommendation for permanent appropriation.

This work in C major is the crowning finale of the edition of all 11 extant flute quartets. They WILL become common property for this instrumentation in the near future.

The '4 Lieder' of the Swabian Edele breathe a breath of Biedermeil charm. They are masterfully modeled on the romantic-programmatic ideals of their time.
