Description:
The "Missa brevis in F" K. 192 (186f), which can be considered the highlight of Mozart's "youth masses", is also known as the "Little Credo Mass" due to the Credo calls interspersed throughout the third movement.
The autograph of the mass is dated Salzburg, June 24, 1774. Mozart composed the mass for Sundays and minor holidays for Salzburg Cathedral, in whose archives an authentic copy of the parts with additions by Mozart is kept.
The parts of the two Clarini, which were later added by the composer and which - as some progression errors (parallel fifths and octaves) show - were probably written in haste, were analyzed for the first time in the NMA by Walter Senn and appear in the edition in small print.
