Engelbert Humperdinck (1854 -1921) was a German composer. He is best known for his operas, of which 'Hansel und Gretel' (1893) is by far the most successful. However, he also composed a large number of songs, including some Christmas carols. 'Weihnachten' is undoubtedly the most famous of these carols. Dutch arranger Jos van de Braak arranged 'Weihnachten' for voice accompanied by a wind ensemble.
