Description:
The Concerto in A major, written at the beginning of the 18th century, belongs to a group of Telemann's compositions for two violins, viola and basso continuo which have been largely ignored by musical research and practice. Perhaps the reason for this lies in the designation "concerto", as these works lack a dominant solo part. Instead, they are "concerti a quattro" or "concerti ripieni". This edition contains both the original version for strings and - marked by ossia passages - the version for flute quartet, which was originally considered to be authentic and which is preserved in a Paris print from 1752. With the Urtext of the Telemann Werkausgabe, this edition opens up a new direction in Georg Philipp Telemann's chamber music.
