Description:
In 2001, the Hamburg-based musicologist Hans Joachim Marx discovered a previously unknown composition by George Frideric Handel at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The Gloria for solo soprano, two violins, and basso continuo is an early work by Handel, likely composed in 1707. Its authenticity has been confirmed by other renowned scholars.
The work is particularly striking for its brilliant solo part, rich in coloratura, which makes the composition a must for every female vocal soloist.
