Description:
If you are looking for a mass with an expansive sonority that offers a good amateur choir rewarding tasks, the new 'Missa festiva' by Klaus Wallrath is an extremely convincing composition. The musical spectrum of the motivically linked movements ranges from opulence reminiscent of French cathedral music to a melodious English sound. Written for an anniversary of the Westallgäu choral community, the 'Missa festiva' refers to the instrumentation of the premiere: an ensemble of woodwinds and brass, timpani, organ, four-part choir and a soprano solo, which is particularly captivating with lyrical solos. In response to numerous requests, the composer also created an organ-only version (BU 2800B) in case the large orchestration with winds was not feasible. Thanks to the almost lush sound and the wonderful singability and musicality of the individual voices that characterize Wallrath's works, this festive Ordinary will quickly cast a spell over both your choir and your congregation.
