Description:
These two scholarly-critical editions of Gabriel Fauré's popular piano quartets (BA 7903 and 7904) are based on the corresponding new volume of the Fauré Complete Edition published by Bärenreiter. All surviving sources have been taken into account for the first time in the creation of the new editions.
The Piano Quartet op. 15 was already extraordinarily successful during the composer's lifetime and had to be reprinted time and again. The work thus contributed significantly to building Fauré's reputation as a composer of great chamber music.
The Piano Quartet op. 45, on the other hand, only became a standard work of the genre in the course of the 20th century. This Urtext edition is based on the first edition engraved by Röder; Fauré's autograph was used to determine the exact placement of dynamic and articulation markings.
The new Urtext editions offer a clearly laid out score and parts as well as optimal page turns.
