Description:
These twelve piano miniatures, of increasing difficulty, are a magical distillation of Ming Wang's long-desired encounter with the Alpine landscape: Rustling Brook, Two Marmots, Colourful Clouds, The Cricket and the Butterfly, The Day the Snow Fell, Lullaby, Mountain Song, Eternal Ice, Ptarmigan's Song, Dancing Wind, The Valley of Echoes and Ice Pellets. Written mostly in the conventional manner but also incorporating playing techniques and sound effects frequently used in New Music, they are an ideal introduction to the composer's sound world - a mixture of European contemporary language and Asian colour. Detailed performing instructions, with added fingering by pianist and teacher Przemek Dembski, help to make these brief, unique works a joy for pupil and teacher alike.
