Description:
The Offertorium de venerabili sacramento "Venite populi" à 2 Chori K. 260/248a, whose autograph score Mozart inscribed Salzburg 1767, clearly shows the composer's desire for in-depth contrapuntal work. Two outer movements, predominantly polyphonically shaped from the same thematic material, frame a shorter homophonic middle movement. The double choir offers the opportunity for interweaving as well as contrast and echo effects of various kinds. The poet of the non-liturgical text is unknown.
