It has been known for some time that it is not only German Christmas carols that exert their undisputed charm. In the eight-movement suite, Schweizer therefore also incorporates songs from other European countries, which are at least as concise and characterize Christmas just as well. The underlying German texts have a unifying effect here. It goes without saying that the individual self-contained parts can be performed separately. It also lends itself to the reading of suitable texts between the individual carol arrangements.
