Description:
Bruckner's great "Mass in F minor" is one of the composer's most important works – and of 19th-century choral music in general. In a unique way, the composer succeeds here in musically penetrating the contents of faith. In doing so, he ventured into extreme areas of expression, which led to upheavals with the musicians in the course of the originally planned premiere in November 1868. In the following years, however, the work became more and more established and is still a very attractive challenge for high-performance choirs today. With the present arrangement by the experienced arranger and orchestral musician Joachim Linckelmann, it is possible to perform the work on a smaller scale. In his version for soloists, choir and chamber orchestra, he reduces the winds from the original 15 to only 7. The strings remain identical to the original in their parts, but can now also be reduced in terms of instrumentation.
