Description:
Bruckner's great "Mass in F minor" is one of the composer's - and 19th century choral music's - most important works. In a unique way, the composer succeeds here in musically penetrating the contents of faith. In doing so, he ventures into extreme areas of expression, which led to disagreements with the musicians during the premiere planned for November 1868. Subsequently, however, the work became more and more popular and is still a very appealing challenge for high-performance choirs today.
The Carus edition offers the mass in the final version from 1893 on the basis of the autograph and the surviving copyists' copies. This provides an Urtext edition at the cutting edge of scholarship.
