Description:
According to recent research, the offertory "Benedictus sit Deus" K. 117 (66a) is identical to the offertory K. 47b, which was believed to be lost. It was intended for the dedication of the orphanage church on Rennweg in Vienna and was performed there on December 7, 1768. Mozart therefore probably composed it in October and/or November of the same year. In Leopold Mozart's list, it is listed as "a large offertorium à 4 Vocibus &c 2 Violins &c: Clarinis &c 1768".
