Description:
Mozart's concertos for violin and orchestra are among those outstanding works by which every violinist must measure his abilities: elegant and transparent, with demanding runs.
The Concerto in D major, K2 271a, Mozart's so-called "sixth" violin concerto, has survived in two sources, a French set of parts with score and a Berlin score. The work was found to be of dubious authenticity by the editors of the New Mozart Edition, although many scholars clearly recognize Mozartian characteristics in it.
The edition takes both of the above-mentioned sources into account and also includes the cadenzas contained in the corresponding appendix volume of the New Mozart Edition, although these were certainly not written by Mozart.
