Description:
The organ solo parts are available separately, as is a suspended harpsichord part. The bassi part contains the figuring so that the continuo can also be performed by either theorbo or keyboard instrument. Early versions are printed both in the score and in the parts. All scores are preceded by a short preface which provides both historical information and notes on performance practice. The completely newly engraved scores with parts for the six organ concertos op. 4 are based on the new edition presented in the complete edition (IV/2, BA 4069) by Terence Best and William Gudger. Scores and parts are free of editorial and interpretative additions which burden other editions available today. The edition therefore contains no arbitrarily added trills, staccato dots or slurs; all additions and additions by the editors are clearly marked as such.
The third violin part requested by Handel to support the viola in the fourth movement has been included in the part material.
