Description:
With the publication of the score and parts of the D major Horn Concerto K. 412/514, Mozart expert Henrik Wiese continues the orchestral edition of this important group of works begun in 2013. What was first published in the Alte Mozart-Ausgabe in 1881 as Mozart's 1st Horn Concerto turned out over time to be a pastiche: while the opening movement is undoubtedly by Mozart, the elaboration of the rondo is attributable to Süßmayr. This movement has survived only as a draft in Mozart's manuscript. The present edition now contains both the Süßmayr Rondo (KV 514 = SmWV 502) and the Mozart Rondo fragment (KV 412) carefully completed by Wiese. Thus, in a practical edition, the performer is offered the choice between the traditional version (with Süßmayr) and the version Mozart probably intended.
