Description:
Since 2014, the six symphonic poems of Bedrich Smetana's cycle "My Fatherland" have been published individually by Bärenreiter in new Urtext editions, edited by Hugh Macdonald. The present edition combines all parts of this unique work of the international orchestral repertoire in one conducting score. The editor chose the autograph scores as his main source. The first editions of "Vyšehrad", "Vltava" and "Aus Böhmens Hain und Flur" contain several printing errors and a number of inaccuracies due to misreading of the manuscripts; therefore, these first editions, together with the composer's four-hand piano arrangements, served the editor only as secondary sources. The first printings of the other parts of the cycle only appeared after Smetana's death and were therefore not included in the edition anyway.
