Description:
There are mass movements in which a smile appears on the singers' faces after just a few bars and the feeling sets in: It could not have been composed more beautifully. When these reactions occur not just with one, but with all five Ordinary movements, one can speak of a 'success', and the Düsseldorf composer Klaus Wallrath has succeeded impressively with this Missa brevis: Short and technically simple movements, which are, however, peppered with songful, cross-movement motifs and catchy themes. And the congregation can also participate in all of this by being invited to sing a short 'inverse verse' in the Gloria and Sanctus. The mass was commissioned for the 800th anniversary of the parish of Bettringen (Schwäbisch Gmünd), for which an easily comprehensible, beautiful-sounding mass with orchestral accompaniment was desired, but which could also be performed with organ accompaniment throughout the year. The extent to which all the desired parameters are present in this work can now be experienced by all choirs who are looking for a new Ordinary that will inspire singers and listeners alike!
