Description:
The "Sparrow Mass" in an arrangement for women's choir
The "Missa in C" KV 220 has established a firm place in the repertoire of many choirs to this day.
The so-called "Sparrow Mass", which owes its nickname to the characteristic violin motifs that appear throughout, is now being published in the new "Bärenreiter Women's Choir" series. The tenor and bass solos have been carefully distributed among the high voices. The original soprano and alto parts were largely retained unchanged in the solos and choir. Heribert Breuer preserves the substance of the original work and at the same time gives the mass a completely new and appealing sound character.
Heribert Breuer
was Professor of Choral Conducting and Music Theory at the Berlin University of the Arts until 2010. He is the founder and director of the Berlin Bach Academy and has made a name for himself with numerous arrangements of works from Bach to Schubert.
