Description:
First the general news on the consistently closed group of works: with the new edition of the G minor Symphony, the three late Mozart works K. 543, 550 and 551 are now available in the Breitkopf Urtext.
And now in particular: Similar to his new edition of the 'Hafner Symphony' (PB/OB5373), editor Henrik Wiese uncovers three different stages of the G minor symphony and makes them amazingly accessible to practice.
Mozart first wrote the work without clarinets (1st stage, 1st version), then he changed the wind instrumentation in the Andante (2nd stage, 1st version). Only in a final step did he add the clarinets and reverse the changed instrumentation in the Andante (3rd stage, 2nd version). For the first time, this can be conveniently compared, studied and, above all, played in score and parts.
