"On Tuesday, the fourth of November," wrote Mozart to his father on October 31 (the day after his arrival in Linz), "I will be giving a concert in the theater - and since I have no symphony with me, I am writing one as fast as I can, for it must be ready by then." Accordingly, this work was performed for the first time in the theater in Linz on November 4, 1783. This critical edition based on the composer's manuscript has been completed by Friedrich Schnapp. Instrumentation: 0.2.0.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (4-4-3-3-3 in set).
