Description:
If you are looking for an atmospheric and lyrical work with rewarding tasks for your choir, then Rheinberger's "Star of Bethlehem" is the right choice. In nine scenes (Expectation, The Shepherds, Apparition of the Angel, The Star etc.), the Christmas story is lyrically accompanied. Song-like and pastoral choruses, a heartfelt soprano part and, last but not least, the exotic-looking procession of the wise men through the desert ensured the increasing popularity of the work, which was composed in 1890. The text was written by Rheinberger's wife Fanny / Due to the similar scoring, the work can be ideally combined with Mendelssohn's "Vom Himmel hoch" or "Die Geburt Christi". / In order to make this musically poetic, colorful and, in the best sense of the word, romantic work accessible to smaller choirs, Carus also offers an arrangement for soloists, choir and organ (Carus 50.164/45).
