The text was written by Rheinberger’s wife, Fanny. / Due to the similar instrumentation, the work can be ideally combined with Mendelssohn’s "Vom Himmel hoch" or "Die Geburt Christi." / To make this musically poetic, colorful, and—in the best sense of the word—romantic work accessible to smaller choirs as well, Carus also offers an arrangement for soloists, choir, and organ (Carus 50.164/45).
