Description:
Glazunov's compositions are often characterized by a specific pathos and a heroic mood. This is also the case with the Russian master's well-known organ works, all of which bear the characteristic traits of the Russian symphonic style: epic breadth and monumentality as well as proximity to folk music, paired with the highest polyphonic artistry.
The Urtext edition supplements the three well-known works Prelude and Fugue in D major, op. 93 (1906), Prelude and Fugue in D minor, op. 98 (1914) and Fantasy, op. 110 (1935) with the Prelude and Fugue in D minor, op. 62 (1899). The expressive piano work is presented here in a revised transcription for symphonic organ by B. L. Sabanejew from 1909.
