Description:
The great success of the edition "Mein teurer Heiland" (BU 3118) has prompted the editor and publisher to publish further transcriptions of choruses and arias from Bach's great Passions in order to give as many organists as possible the opportunity to perform these popular pieces, even just instrumentally, at concerts or devotions during Lent or on other suitable occasions. The compositions compiled for this volume are deliberately subjected to a diverse mix in character and degree of difficulty. Again, chorales in simple movements stand next to large-scale choruses and arias of a somewhat higher degree of difficulty. The deep impression that these core pieces of Bach's work repeatedly evoke and with which they interpret, indeed shape, one of the most important festive times of the church year, is thus no longer reserved for the great oratorio performances. These practical and stylishly executed arrangements are strongly recommended to all organists and put on the podium.
