Description:
The "Twelve original compositions for pianoforte 4 hands" op. 57 were written during Kirchner's time in Leipzig, where he worked as a freelance composer and arranger from 1876 to 1883. As far as his own production is concerned, these eight years without a permanent position were his most productive. The booklet contains one more piece than mentioned in the title. Presumably to avoid the number 13, the last piece is entitled "Zum Schluss". (Jürg Löffler)
