Description:
With his piano music, Christian Fink (1831–1911) is a typical representative of the 19th century. With their poetic titles, the present five shorter character pieces tie in with Robert Schumann's Fantasy Pieces op. 12 and illuminate different moods - from the exuberant carnival march to the sacred gesture of devotional mood. The young Christian Fink, who came from Württemberg, wrote the Five Fantasy Pieces op. 14 during his time in Leipzig and dedicated it to his friend, the choirmaster Carl Riedel. The compositions, published for the first time in a modern critical edition, still represent a welcome addition to the well-known repertoire of character pieces for piano.
