Bärenreiter's new Urtext edition of Claude Debussy's unique collection ' Children's Corner' documents the development of these popular pieces, taking into account all known sources including Debussy's correspondence with his publisher. Regina Back's critical new edition uses the first edition, which Debussy proofread and annotated, as its main source and draws on the autograph and Debussy's own piano roll recording of the work when making difficult editorial decisions. This new edition is therefore not an amalgamation and mixture of all the sources, as can be found in many modern editions, but reflects the composer's intentions. All editorial decisions are clearly described in the new Bärenreiter edition: Debussy for Perfectionists. The preface (German/English/French) documents the history of the work's composition and offers valuable information on Debussy's ideas on performance practice and his aesthetics.
