Description:
The Concerto No. 10 for two pianos and orchestra in E flat major, K. 365, occupies a special role in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's oeuvre: apart from the Concerto for Two or Three Pianos, K. 242, it is the only one for more than one keyboard instrument. Mozart probably composed it in 1779, after his return from a trip to Mannheim and Paris, possibly intended for performances with himself and his sister as soloists. For the first time in a Mozart concerto, the bassoons have their own voices, often independent of the bass part.
This piano reduction complements the score, which was published by Bärenreiter in 1976 in the New Mozart Edition and is still available, as well as the parts of this concerto based on it (BA05390). What is new is the carefully prepared and technically successful orchestral reduction by Martin Schelhaas.
The piano reduction includes separate Urtext parts of the two solo pianos, in which the orchestral entries are also noted, as well as another booklet with cadenzas by Mozart himself, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Carl Reinecke, Camille Saint-Saëns, Josef Rheinberger and Leopold Godowsky.
