Description:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 25 in C major K. 503 was written for a cycle of four academy concerts that Mozart organized in the Advent season of 1786 at the Casino in Vienna. Actually busy with the urgent work on "Le nozze di Figaro", Mozart composed the concerto only shortly before its premiere.
This piano reduction complements the score already published by Bärenreiter in 1987 in the New Mozart Edition and still available, as well as the parts of this concerto based on it (BA04742). New is the carefully prepared and technically successful orchestral reduction by Martin Schelhaas.
The piano reduction is accompanied by a separate piano solo part, in which there are also notes for the orchestral entries: this allows the ensemble to be led from the piano or improvised in tutti passages above the bass part. Since no cadenza by Mozart has survived for this concerto, another booklet offers cadenzas by August Eberhard Müller, Philipp Karl Hoffmann, Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Friedrich Kalkbrenner, Carl Reinecke, Ferruccio Busoni, Hermann Beck and Paul Badura-Skoda.
