Description:
Alongside the "Italian Concerto" (BWV 971) for solo harpsichord, the "Concerto a due Cembali" is Johann Sebastian Bach's only original composition of a concerto for two unaccompanied harpsichords. He probably composed the concerto in Leipzig around 1733 and later added a variant version with string rippieno in the first and third movements. The original version for two unaccompanied harpsichords was presented for the first time in a source-critical edition within the "New Bach Edition". It forms the basis for this new edition of the concerto. This edition corresponds to the current state of research and thus offers an optimal basis for the highest demands.
